Minutes from 9/4/2012

Science Night ECMS

v The meeting was called to order by President Bethany Booth.

v Inspiration was led by Bruce Brown.

v Treasure’s report presented by Jason Brady.  Current balance is $22,068.31.  There were $6,266.35 inexpenses and $6,464.16 in deposits.

v Business that was discussed:  The Fall Festival will be October 13th at ECMS. Christmas activities will be held on December 8th.  "Box Tops for Education" will be collected at all schools through PTO.  The yearbooks for all schools will be handled through Jostens and will be able to order them throughout the year.  Parent help is needed in the selling of ice cream at the Primary school.  Joining the PTO on Facebook, bulletin boards at each school and on the Elbert County web site are ways in stay in touch with activities that are going on with PTO. Newsletters will go home twice a year as well. 

v The program was then turned over to our guest speakers.  Jan Burns from the library discussed the Reading with Your Family program that to library is sponsoring.  Julie Williams of EMS explained the new Delta Alert system to us. Dr. Martha Noble used a great PowerPoint to help us all understand Title1 and how it helps our students. Wakeshia McClarey, our Parent Involvement liaison, provided information on the Parent Involvement Center located at the Blackwell Learning Center.  We closed our program with Kate Johnson explaining programs for students that were migrant workers and homeless.  The ladies gave us a great deal of new knowledge.

v We were then adjourned and dismissed to Science Night where the students and their families got to take place in multiple science experiments.

v The next PTO meeting is   November 6th
